Reporting directly to the Golf Course Superintendent, this individual will play a hands-on leadership role in the daily maintenance of one of the premier golf facilities in the Mid-Atlantic.
The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced leadership team that has developed four Golf Course Superintendents over the past six years. This position is designed for someone who enjoys being actively involved in golf course maintenance, including irrigation management, pesticide applications, hand watering, and leading by example.

Initial Priorities of the Position:
- Learn the daily maintenance operation and team expectations
- Assist with irrigation, spraying, hand watering, and golf course setup
- Build relationships with the maintenance team
- Demonstrate leadership through action
- Become familiar with the property’s high standards for member conditions
- Work closely with the Superintendent to prepare for future advancement
Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitude:
- Assist in the daily management of golf course maintenance operations
- Perform pesticide and fertilizer applications
- Hand water and manage irrigation systems
- Assist with golf course setup and daily conditioning
- Supervise and lead maintenance staff when appropriate
- Perform the Superintendent’s duties in their absence
- Monitor turf health and identify issues proactively
- Maintain accurate application and maintenance records
- Train and mentor seasonal employees
- Promote a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
- Communicate effectively with the Superintendent and fellow managers
- Maintain the highest standards of golf course conditioning
- Participate in weekend and holiday schedules as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-7 years of golf course maintenance experience
- Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management or related field (preferred)
- Relevant experience may substitute for formal education
- State pesticide applicator’s license (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with irrigation troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of agronomic practices
- Leadership experience preferred
- Desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $60,000-$80,000 (depending on experience)
